2016/2017 Meeting Summary
This section is to help you complete your APR form for this project. Please feel free to use any photos on this website for your record books as well. The record book is a great way for you to record your progress and accomplishments with learning a new skill. The APR should be completed by all members ages 9-19 though younger youth may complete the form if they wish.
- 9/17/16 Crochet chain bracelets. We learned how to make the slip knot, and how to make a crochet chain.

- 11/19/16 Charm cuff bracelet. We learned how to make the half double crochet stitch. We also began learning to read a crochet pattern.
- 12/17/16 Soap on a rope. We learned how make a mesh pattern using half double crochet and crocheting into open spaces.
- 1/21/17 Granny squares. We learned how to read an advanced pattern, make the double crochet stitch, and the slip stitch.
- 2/25/17 (NO PROJECT MEETING THIS MONTH) We took a field trip to the Stitches West Convention in Santa Clara. We saw many different styles of fiber art including knitting, crochet, felting and rug hooking. We had the chance to practice rug hooking, and learned how to make rolags on a blending board.
- 3/18/17 Crocheted 4 leaf clover. We learned to work on advanced construction techniques such as working into chain spaces and creating slip stitch cords.
- 4/22/17 Choosing a pattern. We learned about what we need to watch for when selecting a new pattern such as noting the weight and yardage of the yarn, the hook size, and any special stitches used. We brought a pattern to work on and selected yarn and needles to get started.
- 5/21/17 Continue working on our selected patterns. We brought back our in progress or completed projects from the previous month. We sharde what we learned, what was hard, what went well, what didn't, and what we might do differently next time.
- 6/10/17 Party! We celebrated the end of our 4-H year together. We brought show and tell's and project to work on together while enjoying ice cream sandwiches. We all got to select fiber/yarn to use for a new project.

Soap on a Rope
You all did amazing with your crochet projects this month. I can tell those of you that have been practicing at home! Remember to keep up the practice so that you are ready to move on to the next lesson in January. Your youth leaders are working on setting up an additional meeting each month starting in January. Right now they are working on finding a location with light and out of the rain! If you have any ideas or have certain days that work better than others, please email me and let me know. We need to think of a community service project/event. Last year we made a project linus blanket. The event doesn't have to be fiber related. Please email your suggestions or bring them to the January meeting. I wish you all a very happy holiday!
